Historical Programs

Introduction

In addition to the treasure trove of pictures we’ve got on file, we have a number of historical programs that have been preserved over the years that truly document who we:

  • Graduated with;
  • Blocked and tackled for;
  • Jumped through “hoops” with; and
  • Played sweet music with.

As you look through these programs, please also look at the names of all the people who supported us, cheered us along the way and helped us carve out our destiny…

Graduation Programs

Deer Path

What an amazing document highlighting very talented classmates Margaret Bakker, Ann Burton, Diana Turpel, Bob Switek, Gary Robertz and Tom Hutton – And a name that brings back very fond memories, Dr. Pearson an absolute prince of a Principal…

Lake Bluff

Kudos to Karen Kwiatt, Mike Rahn and John Horn for being part of the Program – Talk about outstanding achievements, how about the following Citizenship Award winners: DAR to Margaret Dangremond and Tom Hofmaier, American Legion to Bev Hall, Jim Crocker, Lynn Gilchrist and Mike DeHaven and the Orville T Bright Scout Award to Jim Crocker.

Have you figured out whose mother graduated in the first graduating class of LFHS (“Class of 1936”) – Take a look…

Music Festival Programs

Lake Bluff Junior High School

My takeaways when I look at this program:

  1. I can actually envision Chris Jennings playing the piano accordion
  2.  What about the Gomez twins providing narration during “Together We Sing”
  3.  How loud was the Bogg’s house with Tim plucking his Bass and Tom banging the drums
  4. Not unexpected that Blake Allison, Mike DeHaven and John Peterman (60% of The Bachs) would be members  of the Special Chorus.

What a great tribute to a very special group of classmates!!!

Youth Music Festival Sponsored by The CMA

This was by far and away the broadest conglomeration of school talent you could ever gather for one program.

Classmates from Deer Path, Lake Bluff, St Mary’s, older kids from LFHS, younger kids from Gorton, kids from Lake Forest Country Day, Ferry Hall and Lake Forest Academy.

Advertisers included Best Record Shop, John Griffith, AS Hansen, Helanders, Krafts, Robertson’s, Tangley Oaks, Wenbans and more.

It’s no wonder I wasn’t musically inclined, not a Johnson anywhere in the program.

Sports Programs

8th Grade Basketball Tournament

Held at Lake Forest Academy, this was a very special tournament not just because Deer Path won but because it involved 8 area schools including Deer Path, Lake Bluff and St Mary’s as well as Carl Sandburg, Diamond Lake, Elm Place, Northwood and Wilmot.

A majority of players from Deer Path and a handful from Lake Bluff went on to play for LFHS.

1967 Lake Forest High School Football

Led by All-Everything quarterback Tom Sorenson, a ground game that featured Jim Teskoski and speedy wideouts Bob Hodgkinson, Bob Metcalf, Mike Lofstrom and Rodney Erickson.

And how about our All-Star Cheerleading Squad featuring Jody Kidd, Mary Duke Harlan, Sue Bland, Stevie Sheehy, Karen Kwiatt and Mary Jo Farago.
